Coriole Chenin Blanc 2006

Coriole
Chenin Blanc
$13
McClaren Vale

Coriole is a pretty funky winery, a usual stop on our regular jaunts to McClaren Vale, its got old world charm. Though there is always some issue with the little cafe, where we usually leave with "never again' on our lips. But we go back - last time it was really good so that pushed them on to the goodside of the ledger for awhile.

Anyway, i've never really liked their reds, i think its brave that they try and do some of the lesser known varieties like barbero and nebblio; which i like better than their shiraz and cabernets but i have to admit i am impressed by their whites. The Chenin Blanc is really light, actually maybe not light maybe more quiet, like a whisper but its a clear and tantalising whisper. With some lemony tartness which ends with a bit of dull spice.

A chilled kickback wine.

4/5
